Kosuke Tsumura is a Japanese designer who takes influence from post-apocalyptic films, manga and other forms of media. A survivalist ethos is present in his works, with apparel designed towards those in urban environments overcoming challenges they could face on there journey to survive. Struggle and survival are key features that keep appearing in his Final Home project. Taking inspiration from this and transferring this into sound for Rob’s piece will mean creating sounds that denotes or could be expected in a post-apocalyptic setting.

A huge part of the Blade Runner sound track is the ethereal drones and large atmospheres that can be heard throughout the piece. I will attempt to replicate this same kind of spacey feeling in my piece, except using different techniques like granular synthesis and buffers.

Maybe I could experiment with similar vocals found at the start of Doll’s Polyphony. I think this would fit in with and add to the themes of Rob’s exhibition.
