I spent a day recording sounds in the countryside. The aim was to capture sounds rarely found in the city, such as thick walls and a wide range of bird calls, chickens and types of tree rustling sounds which are not heard as vividly in urban areas.

Here is a selection of the recordings I managed to make. I will be combining these with urban recordings I have made outside my house. I think I will have these sounds louder in the mix so that they distort the sounds of the city that are usually louder. I am also working on an installation involving farmyard equipment taken from the same location these sounds are recorded in. I will be helping to paint a further immersive experience for the viewer of the exhibition through sound to compliment the visual works and so I’ll be using some of these recordings for that as well.
