Syrphe has loads of sounds that I am personally interested in. Experimental music which fuses African polyrhythms, tunings and instruments with western structure and electronic effects/tools is really enjoyable to listen to. An example of this kind of sound is below.

The polyrhythms intertwining with each other coupled with the metallic bowl sound and plucked string instrument moving and communicating with each other on different trajectories, throwing up new rhythmic content with every passing repeat is one of the most beautiful compositions, in my opinion, I’ve ever heard. Jako Maron is from Reunion, a small island off the coast of Madagascar and pushes the boundaries of local traditional music (maloya and sega). It makes you think how much more beautiful and creative musicians there are out there, influenced and socialised around sound differently to the western world. Hearing different culture’s takes on music and sound in general is a blessing as it’s a new angle on sound and how to potentially approach composition.
